She's been through hell a few times and has the emotional scars to prove it, but she's healing. As is the standard for all Magicians, Julia possesses at least Above Average level of intelligence that enables her to grasp the concept of magic and apply it in the physical world. She was slated to go to Yale before her discovery and rejection from Brakebills, a testament to her intellect, and she briefly attended law school following the loss of magic in the world. Depending on the circumstance, she might flirt back or she might magically punch someone in the face. Is there something you want to avoid? Julia's backstory is filled with things that might be uncomfortable for some players, but much can be avoided in great detail or altogether if you give me a heads up.

sexual assault, abortion, possession — Julia was assaulted by Reynard, a trickster god, after he murdered her coven and possessed one of them. The attack resulted in a pregnancy that required a magical abortion, during which she lost her Shade, the part of her soul that allowed her to process complex emotions and connect to others.

genocide — While without her Shade, Julia destroyed a forest of sentient trees in Fillory, annihilating their species.

manipulation — At her lowest times (both with and without her Shade), manipulating others is something Julia excels at, her goals driving her even when she harms those she cares for.

substance abuse — Early on in her journey with magic, Julia developed an unhealthy relationship with magic akin to addiction.

depression, ptsd — After being sexually assaulted, she suffered from occasional bouts of depression and PTSD. The severity of these lessened with time as she healed from the experience.

depression, suicidal ideation — Julia's best friend, Quentin, suffers from chronic depression and has seriously considered ending his own life more than once.

slavery — A group of faeries living on Earth were enslaved and murdered by a certain family of magicians; Julia worked with Fen and the faery queen to free these faeries.

The Marvel Connection

With the existence of multiple types of magic, supernatural creatures, and other worlds, it's incredibly easy to say that Marvel coexists with The Magicians. There are even connections with the MCU in that both magicians and the Masters of the Mystic Arts used magic that is choreographed with finger tutting.

As such, I like to say they coexist but don't often mingle, save for the occasional exchange of knowledge. Magicians tend to be a self-centered bunch, which would clash pretty harshly with the philosophy of the Masters. But given Julia's desire to help others and that she was not classically trained as a magician, she could prove to be the exception to the rule.
